Management of Sustainable Development (MSD) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and responsible research practices. In accordance with COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) recommendations (2024) and international publishing ethics, MSD establishes the following policy regarding the use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) tools in scholarly submissions.
- Authorship Responsibility
- AI systems cannot be listed as authors.
- Authorship implies accountability for originality, validity, and integrity, which can only be assumed by human researchers.
- Authors are fully responsible for the content generated, including any part assisted by AI tools.
- Acceptable Use of AI Tools
AI tools may be used only for supportive purposes, such as:
- Grammar and language editing
- Formatting and style improvement
- Reference organization
- Code assistance for standard programming tasks
AI tools must not be used to:
- Generate ideas or arguments presented as original research
- Fabricate citations, references, or data
- Write the entire manuscript or substantial sections of it
- Replace critical reasoning or scientific analysis
- Mandatory AI Use Disclosure
If AI tools are used in any way during manuscript preparation, authors must clearly declare this in the AI Disclosure Statement at the end of the manuscript before the References section.
Required example disclosure:
AI Disclosure Statement: The authors used the AI tool [name/version] for [purpose – language editing, grammar correction, code assistance]. The authors reviewed and approved the final version of the manuscript and take full responsibility for its content.
Failure to disclose AI use may be considered academic misconduct.
- Academic Integrity and AI Screening
All submissions to MSD are screened for:
- Plagiarism
- Fabricated or AI-generated content
- Fake references
- Manipulated citations
AI-assisted writing is acceptable only when transparently disclosed and human-verified. MSD reserves the right to reject manuscripts that show:
- Undisclosed AI-generated content
- Incoherent or hallucinated references
- Evidence of machine-generated false claims
- Editorial and Peer Review Use of AI
- Editors and reviewers may not use AI tools to evaluate, summarize, or generate editorial decisions for manuscripts.
- AI may only be used for language checking or format validation.
- Confidentiality of manuscripts must be strictly preserved. Manuscripts must not be uploaded to any AI tools that store user data.
- Conclusion
Non-compliance with this policy may result in:
- Manuscript rejection
- Retraction of published articles.
